The biggest issue we have as original webbased content creators is exposure.  We have a global market at our finger tips but it sits just out of reach unless we can get exposure.  Festivals and Awards are a great opportunity to give us credibility and exposure, but Webcentric events are hard to find.

I suggest that WSN start (with our help) creating the "definitive" master list of web- festivals and web- award shows so we can start to submit and attend.  (possible advertising dollars from these cats to WSN too)

I'll start...

AWARDS:

(they'll cost you for submissions.  Joining committees shouldn't, but do your due diligence.)

http://iawtv.org/

these guys are trying to establish the "academy" of web folks.  Submissions for their first one is closed.  BUT go sign up and support the infrastructure.  It will let you know when to submit next year too.

Submission: Costs and costs per category.

http://www.webbyawards.com/

These, I think, are the longest running award show for web folks.  They're the ones you see plastered on most sites.   They are accepting submissions now.

Submission: Costs

http://www.streamys.org/ They ran 2010 for the first time unless I'm mistaken.  I've contacted them but the response was to watch them on facebook for news.  2011 award submission has not yet occurred.  Keep and eye on it.

Submission: Costs

FESTIVALS:

As a web show you can apply to film fests for stand alone episodes AND/ OR try to find a "new media" category.  In North America they cost but everywhere else in the world submission is free.  This is important for us as we don't have deep pockets AND it broadens our exposure elsewhere in the world.  BUT let's start with WEB BASED FESTIVALS and leave the film stuff to later on.

http://www.marseillewebfest.com/  it's the only one I'm aware of specifically for web.  I'm only in the festival stage of marketing now but I'll update as I get deeper.

Submission:  costs? free?

CAN ANYONE ELSE EXPAND UPON THE ABOVE?

The los angeles web series festival LAWEBFEST is a great festival to enter!

Don't know why my last reply was blank...but yea there's LAWebFest and a new one HollyWeb Festival...both are web series only :)

there is also ITVFEST http://itvfest.org/

SO please correct if I'm wrong here:  It would be great if someone had time to go through and post up the dates for submission if they were closed so we'd know when to look for them next year.

At the 2011 Raindance Film Festival I programmed their first ever web series section  and ran a web series pilot competition - this I hope will continue into next year's festival.

To my knowledge the UK doesn't have any dedicated fests for web series and I don't know any other festival that has had a web series section.

Well done, Mr. Cabrera!!  Thanks for working hard to pioneer that!!   That's a big win for us!!   Let us know if goes again in the UK this year.  Was there a submission fee for webseries?

Have you guys entered any of these? Which one has the best prizes?

I guess it depends what you're looking for..LA Web Fest appears to give a few series the opportunity to go to another festival (Marseille) in France to screen.

HollyWeb Festival gives the winner $1000 in cash (!)+opportunity to win more cash depending if they win more awards (acting/directing etc.) I entered this one a couple months ago.

The other award shows seem to just be giving awards (i.e. trophies, etc.) and not necessarily a 'prize' but I'm not sure.

I think HollyWeb's grand prize is actually $1500 cash! www.hollywebfestival.com/awards.html

@Todd: Re: HollyWeb... winner gets $1,500 per category nominated or most wins? Please expand. Thanks.
