There was a time when I would make phone calls to raise money. Now supposedly through fundraising sites like IndieGoGo and Kickstarter it seems easier to connect... except I feel a strange disconnect and am not getting the results I had hoped for using IndieGoGo.
So would someone who has used fundraising sites successfully share your tactics. Or at least look at our page and tell me whats the missing ingredient? Thank you! http://www.indiegogo.com/Speak-American-The-Webseries

The more eyes you get on your campaign, the more $ you are going to raise. In order to reach beyond your family/facebook friends/twitter followers, you need to optimize that campaign page as best you can.
SEO the hell out of it. Build links to it, keyword appropriately, and you could end up with money from unexpected visitors. Once these visitors hit your page, if you've got a great promo vid (something that stands alone as entertainment), that could be something that gets passed along, and could snowball a little bit for you.
Could be worthwhile to seek out someone who can do this and has in the past, and pay them to get your campaign found by the search engines. Build their price into the amount you ask for. In fact, you could probably include a contingency - - SEO expert gets paid half up front, half after you reach your goal.
Permalink Reply by Amber Bela Muse on April 11, 2011 at 3:03pm Thanks Ronald! This is what I want to hear. I know if you are passionate enough and work hard (not to mention make a great product) people will follow- even if I raise 1000 it'll be a success for my first attempt.
The key is to get found! We've had over 700 people look at our site and from that 6 have donated and 10 strangers have connected with me to let me know they are following us! Not bad really. I am looking into a tech SEO savvy individual who can keyword appropriately (awesome tip-thank you). Our promo vid is also coming next week!
I'll let you know how it goes!
