Hellooo :)
I'd like to hear any thoughts and opinions you guys might have on my new series, Shadazzle.
The series is a bit quirky and hard to describe, so I've invented the genre melodramedy to place it in!
The episodes are embedded below, so let me know what you think :)
Thanks!

Permalink Reply by Brett Barnett on October 25, 2011 at 3:04pm All castmembers are from the north of England, with northern accents varying from moderate to weak. I wouldn't say anyone has a very strong accent (except one character, intentionally.)
As for launching, all we're officially saying at the minute is January, but it will more than likely be January 25th.
Thanks for the response :)

Permalink Reply by Brett Barnett on January 26, 2012 at 4:38am Hey, just thought I'd let everyone know, we've just released our first episode! I think the season gets better as it goes along, but I think it's a pretty decent opener.
I'd absolutely love any feedback you guys can give!
You can watch the series at http://www.daffadillies.co.uk/shadazzle, and I've embedded the first episode below:
Permalink Reply by Jarrod on January 26, 2012 at 9:38am Very well done and I like the retro color pallet. Don't know if it is the compression or not, but the audio sounds a little hollow in places. Editing is a little rough in places. At 4:50 you have a very noticeable jump cut. Story and characters are good. Normally I would warn against such long pauses in action/dialogue but it really works here. Looking forward to future episodes.
Permalink Reply by Brett Barnett on January 26, 2012 at 10:27am That damn jump cut! I really wanted to do a pickup to fix that, but it just wouldn't work schedule wise, so I had to leave it in.
Glad you enjoyed it, though! I was nervous about the long pauses, so I'm glad they work! Based on this episode, then, would you continue watching?
Permalink Reply by Brett Barnett on February 1, 2012 at 2:40pm Our second episode just went online! What do y'all think?
Permalink Reply by Jarrod on February 20, 2012 at 2:57pm Would be nice if added a "last time" lower third over the previously on video. Its been a bit since watched the first episode and took a moment before I realized it was a previously on segment. Also might want to put on a "next time" lower third over the preview part.
The characters are interesting. Like the color pallet. Camera work seems a little unintentionally shaky at time. Just as I'm getting into a scene it shakes and takes me out.
Episode 2 seemed a bit more somber than the first. I liked the quirkiness and the post it notes were funny.
Permalink Reply by Brett Barnett on February 21, 2012 at 12:13am Thanks! I agree on the camerawork being a bit off in places, we'll work on that.I'm glad you "liked the quirkiness," that's sort of the effect we're hoping for! :)
