Watch Web Series. | Online | Free
Happy Thanksgiving holiday everyone. The title says it all. Let's read/share insightful stories of what led you to our awesome and emerging entertainment medium.
WSN Story: Produced a web series in 2009 called The Nigerian. Searched online for a community of web series creators where I could share my work, network, learn, communicate, collaborate and keep abreast on current happenings in web series. Couldn't find it. Launched WSN the same year to meet my own needs. Rest is history. Now I'm enjoying both worlds... producing and developing original content and connecting with other producers.
Share your story! What led you to web series producing?
Looking forward to reading and commenting on your stories!
I started writing and planning a TV show when I was about ten, but i realized, obviously, I wasn't going to get a TV series at ten, so instead I got a camera and started filming things myself with the intention of releasing them online.
Of course, it was a few years before I produced anything watchable or had enough knowledge of the web to make it happen (plus by that time, we had YouTube, so that helped!).
After 35 episodes across 3 shows, I think they're getting increasingly better. Onward and upward!
Practice makes perfect. :)
I was always interested with films. Do not have the money to make one. Therefore, thought about television series. Then came youtube and blip.tv. I went ahead.
I have been wanting to do web series production since 2004. I saw an online film and thought, wow, this would be great for an online sitcom (which I am still dying to do in the near future) Every time I tried to get people on board to do a series, they thought I was out of my mind. So I did a test series while in college, which showed me the potential of web series. Renewing the fire within me, I went out to produce a comedic web series, which sadly never made it out of production due to production problems.
I was still determined and now my web series, Drifter: Broken Road, will premiere in early 2012. I've had the sense that production was heading this direction for some time and started my own company to focus on online entertainment. Why do I like doing it? The web is my theater and as I have told other in the past, I could make a movie and get it into 10 cinemas, but with the right advertising and project, I can get more views on the net, build a fan base, get productions to the people, give them what they want; fun and entertaining web series, films, etc, at their finger tips.
I love to entertain people and tell a good story. The web provides me with the best avenue to help make that happen. :)
PS: My hope is to start collaborating with other web producers to make even bigger and better productions happen across the board. Whether its writing, directing, or producing.
