Daily Beast and Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Tina Brown Launching Web Talk Show, Lexus Signs On As Launch Sponsor

Kathy O'Hearn, former executive producer for CNN's Campbell Brown and Christina Amanpour's shows will executive produce the web series along with former ABC news reporters Susie Banikarim and David Wharton.

 

The web series called 'Daily Beast TV,' will launch next month and will focus on current events, according to producers. Original web series is promising such that more and more people are creating and distributing their own ideas online and monetizing via selling ad space in their shows. Luxury automaker Lexus as signed on as launch sponsor of Daily Beast TV, with more sponsors expected to join.

 

Next year the uber-popular Los Angeles Web Series Festival (LAWEBFEST), founded by Michael Ajakwe, will hold its third annual festival celebrating web series production. LAWEBFEST is now taking submissions. Register at www.lawebfest.com.

Couldn't agree more. That's why I encourage creators to network and build relationships with other professionals and creators in this business. Who you know gets you in... what you know keeps you in!  But you gotta get in to stay in!

Let's understand the fact that those who signed on are the reason the sponsors signed on. That's the fact and the reality. If you have names in your corner they have 'friends' and 'access' to what many others don't. They also will usually overspend (as we've seen so many 'digital companies') because they market is not mature enough yet to sustain a 50,000 budget to recoup.

 

Its not what you know it who you know and if you know people in the ad world, marketing world etc, that's half the battle. The network is alive and well and media buyers and marketers will take 'big names' and spend on them blind - we see it all the time.
