Original Web Series, Added By You!
Last week, Cybergeddon, the nine-part web series from Yahoo, Norton Virus and CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker debuted and no one knows about it. Zero blip on Internet radar. At a whopping $6 million production budget, Cybergeddon hands-down is the most expensive web series ever made, beating the $2 million Yahoo spent on Tom Hank's series 'Electric City.'
Is marketing an afterthought? Do they ever sit and ask 'how will we market this?' Rolled my eyes when Zuiker said they're hoping for 20 million views so I checked the Cybergeddon YouTube channel and saw an embarrassing 2,300+ combined views. 20 million views Mr. Zuiker? Could have been possible if you'd spent $2 million on production and $4 million on marketing!

Comment by Chad Ream on October 13, 2012 at 3:38pm I've made the same observation regarding the show's views. I saw marketing across the web and the last thing that Yahoo wants to do is send traffic over to YouTube (Google).
Comment by Michael Flores on October 12, 2012 at 7:09pm They do the same thing with regular television. Spend tons of money on production and not enough on marketing, then the show is cancelled.
Comment by Morpheusego Kinema on October 11, 2012 at 1:38pm That's incredible
Comment by Jack Sullivan on October 10, 2012 at 2:02pm Everyone thinks they understand marketing. It's a problem with the "old media" guard trying to replicate success in "new media." I guarantee that $0 was spent on R&D for potential audience versus actual online pull -- and the marketing press release that accompanied the series web launch was abysmal. With a $6 million dollar budget, they could have easily pumped out multiple quality web series an had a much bigger splash. No one on this team spent even a second thinking about real world ROI.
