Members,

Soak in the media exposure that comes with celebrity-driven branded web series such as 'Easy To Assemble' (which I like by the way). But the key is to position yourselves to be just as attractive to advertisers as Illeanna Douglas. You must find creative ways to make yourself marketable.

The industry is shifting and there will come a point when brands and influential people will only want to do business with you, not based on your talent, but based solely on your following and fan base. (Ford Motors is already doing this with Youtubers).

The Internet is a playground with limitless reach. Don't look at your web series as simply a web series, look at it as a brand. Put your brand first and find creative ways to build a following and the trust of the web series community.

I watched and followed the series since last year as the episodes are on two separate theme websites, slightly targeting or offering a slightly difference experience. As well as success there also have been flops such as Candace Bushnell writer of Sex and the city fame. Flopped with online series called The Broadroom, that was sponsored by Maybelline.

Candace Bushnell's The Broadroom web series was based on New York women in the workplace, together with a strong female cosmetic brand, but lack audience take up.

Big name, big brand, large readymade female aware of both, but lacked effective take up and got shelved.

We figured out that having a strong (and large) fan base was the only thing marketers would want to see. In truth, if we had enough fans in a demographic about which they cared, it wouldn't matter if they liked the series. However, in order to get a large base of rabid fans, we would first have to creat a kick ass show and bring our A-game each and every webisode. So the lesson is do it for the love of doing it because it's the content that will ultimately bring in the fans and the market. You gotta love it. Loving your web series might not be enough to make it good, but if it's good it will be because you love it.

"...but based solely on your following and fan base." Yes indeed. Market research shows this.
