Quality Web Series Attracting Hollywood Veterans The Likes Of Which We Deserve

Hollywood veteran Virginia Madsen stars in Jan, a new web series from Wigs

Web series is here to stay! I'll say it again readers, web series is here to stay!

Talk about how far the industry has come: In 2007, the infamous Hollywood writer's strike led many industry talent to the Internet. Those who came simply for the money are no longer with us (thank goodness), but those who helped cultivate, foster and build the web series scene from the ground up, including WSN are enjoying the fruits of our labor.

Over the years, the scene once looked down on as the steppingstone to something bigger, has become The Scene to be involved in. Web series, I take that back, quality web series is attracting Hollywood veterans and topnotch production companies the likes of which we deserve.

More people are turning to the Internet for entertainment. The number of web series makers and digital production companies has increased dramatically over the past five years, and more is coming.

Is this good or bad? Well that depends on who you're asking. Granted, the influx of content and content creators makes discovery nearly impossible without marketing and advertising, and more importantly word of mouth. Ask me and I'll say its a good thing! We deserve quality content and mainstream attention!

Whatever purposes web series serves in the next five years, being used as a "steppingstone" does not appear to be among them. The movement is the present and future of entertainment... join or get left behind.
