Schoeps CMIT5U High Quality Shotgun Microphone

On Friday I shot a promo for the Investigative Discovery Channel and this was the microphone they used on set, the Schoeps CMIT5U, another high quality shotgun microphone to consider for web series, film and video. A bit pricey at $2,100 but captures audio and dialogue with great detail and accuracy. On the low end, you might want to try the Sennheiser ME66 shotgun mic retailing for around $500 brand new... also captures great audio and dialogue.

I know we've covered mic's and sound a bit in the Forum, but feel free to speak further on the topic.

Pleasure. There are many durable, effective and inexpensive microphones out there. It's a matter of preference.

Nice pic Rich! I am very passionate about sound (especially capturing great dialogue) and heard a lot of great things about the CMIT5U. Unfortunately, for now it is a bit out of my price range.

Recently, I used the Rode NTG-2 which has done a great job but I would like to see what the other microphones have to offer. I'm thinking of purchasing the Seinnheiser 416 because word on the internet is that this microphone has been somewhat of an industry standard in Film & Broadcasting for years. I hope I am making the right decision.

Thanks again for the post. -Jaime
