The Hollywood Reporter Writer Tim Goodman Has It Wrong, Says "There's No Future In Web Series"

By Rich Mbariket

To say that Tim Goodman, a writer at The Hollywood Reporter is misinformed about the web series industry would be an understatement.

Tim Goodman woke up one morning, watched two web series (one from Tom Hanks, the other from Jerry Seinfed), and then took to the Internet and wrote this.

And of course... "alexa-chasing" The Hollywood Reporter, who will never stop boasting about their Alexa ranking published it!

I challenge Tim Goodman and THR to get educated on web series. I am making myself available to them to answer their questions about the web series industry and be a source for them. If they are smart, they will use me.

Hollywood/LA is as relevant as Des Moines in the web space and entertainment is far better off for it.

Unbelievable. I really want to rant about this THR article. People like him hurt the medium by speaking ignorantly about an industry they know nothing about.

I agree with you, Rich. I've said it before, Hollywood doesn't understand web series. They know there's some way to make money somehow, but they don't like that people are watching stuff on their phones and computers, rather than the local cinema. As creators, we don't need them, they need us. The web series industry is slowly growing and highly creative and original; filmmakers, companies, and just people in general are catching on to this. Especially up and coming generations. For someone to say there's no future is really blind at the possibilities.
