Interactive web series is a term that is frequently misused in web series. Publishing a web series and calling it interactive, minus the interaction, is not an interactive web series. Giving your audience a task a/k/a sending them on a wild goose chase is not an interactive experience. Having a flashy website, games and apps isn't an interactive experience. Instructing your audience to "vote" is not interactive either. To have a true interactive experience, the producers must interact with their audience and their audience with each other; simple as that!

Comment by The Next Shot? on July 27, 2012 at 7:21pm Rich, I can agree with some of your points concerning the lack of interaction. In the past few months we have started an audience based, interactive web series where people send in suggestions concerning where the story goes next. During the early stages of our developing time, we did the voting thing, only. But now, in the spirit of true interaction, we have offered up character description opportunities, still offer the voting poll and have an option for viewers/writers to suggest their own ideas.
I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts on our concept and would be open to any suggestions you may have. If you'd like to check it out, please go to: The Next Shot? Web Series
On a side note, really love the site and where its going.
